All afternoon Saturday, May 10, cars filled with food will come to be unloaded. Our job is to pull the food out of the car, load into bins, and then transport into our warehouse for sorting. Cars will be packed in all shapes and sizes: boxes piled to the ceiling, dozens of grocery bags sprawled out, and all the loose food. This means lots of standing, repetitive lifting, and smiling faces for all the folks dropping off. We anticipate this shift to move less volume but still plenty to keep some strong and energized volunteers engaged. To sign up for this shift, you must be at least 18 years old and be able to lift 20 pounds and place cans into knee-high totes repetitively. We anticipate this shift will be busier and have more cars to get through.
