As 2018 has come to a close we are amazed at what we have accomplished with Gods help. From starting a new Prep Team of 8 people that was able to prepare and freeze over 1000 lbs of food to be shared during the winter to collecting over 3000 cans to deliver to our 16 different food share partners.
Hunger doesn't take a break over the winter. In fact, as heating costs rise, more families need help with groceries. And we are committed to making sure that no neighbor in Whatcom County goes hungry.
A new opportunity we are exploring is with Calvary Creekside Church who provides weekend food for about 550 kids total between Sumas, Nooksack, Everson, Custer, Cascadia and Lynden Elementary Schools. So for the months of January thru April we are collecting items they use in their weekend bags in our Grocery Bin in the Commons. (Items are listed below)
Here’s what you can do to help right now
Donate the item of the month at the bin in the commons
Consider joining the Food Share Delivery/Distribution Team
Support one of our business partners by shopping with them this season. Franz Bread, Hannegan Seafoods and Barleans have been very faithful supporters of our mission.
Also, if you are a farmer or own a local food business and would like to partner with us, we would love to get your donations to those who need it most. Or if you’d like more information or have questions, contact Faith
at ext 220 or Faithw@ctk.church.
CTK Food Share
Item of the Month
At the CTK Farm, a team of faithful volunteers manages several acres of donated farmland and greenhouses to provide fresh produce for 16 different local partnerships who serve people in Whatcom County.
As the 2018 year closes we are absolutely amazed at what God was able to do thru us this year. Can you believe that 260 people invested over 5500 hours out at the farm. With that time we were able to grow over 35 tons of food that we were able to donate to local organizations to feed our neighbors. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Although it is winter we are still having some work days out at the farm. We would love to have you join us! If you would like to get more information about the farm or join the weekly email list, email John Williams. You can also check out our Facebook page for more information about the farm.
Here are some other ways you can help right now:
Consider joining us for a farm work day.
Donate towards the cost of the farm equipment and seeds by choosing Blessing when you give online.
Pray that God would lead us where he wants to go in the 2019 Harvest Season.
