Lighthouse Mission - Indoor Painting at Agape Family Home
Who are we serving?
Women and children who are transitioning out of homelessness. Up to 60 women and kids live at Agape Home (part of Lighthouse Mission Ministries) and are usually there for 18-24 months. At Agape, guests find a place where they can escape the victimization, hopelessness, and/or addiction that led them to our door. This allows them to create a better future for themselves and their children. Agape Home is a community where women are working on goals with a Growth Assistant, taking an Agape class, doing chores, and participating in house meetings.
Who is helping connect us to their needs?
Lighthouse Mission Ministries seeks to heal homelessness through Christ’s power and love. At Agape, we try to create a warm, cheerful environment where hope can be reborn. New Year’s is often a time of refocused intention and fresh starts. We’d like to do something tangible to the space these mothers and their children share to reflect that sense of new beginnings.
How are we serving?
This painting project is happening on Saturday, January 5th. Due to space constraints we will be splitting up groups between a morning shift (9-noon) and an afternoon shift. No prep work is required as that will be handled by the staff at Agape Home. We will be painting in the downstairs floor of the Agape Home where women with children live. We’ll work on three areas – a living room type space, the kitchen/dining area, and the playroom.
Who do you contact?
If your group is ready to bless the families at Agape Home, please figure out how many from your group can make it, then contact our Samaritan’s List Project Lead, Scott Roberts, to confirm which shift your group is taking. He can be reached at 360-739-9407 or firstname.lastname@example.org. This project is a unique opportunity to see the Mission and its redemptive work firsthand and to be part of something God is doing right here in our community.
If you need help in the process, Wendy at CTK is available (email@example.com or 360-733-1337 ext 212). Please share your about your project on social media using the hashtag #CTKserves!
At CTK, we value authenticity, simplicity, empowerment, relationship, and caring about the community we live in. One key way we serve is by empowering small groups to make a difference through our local partners who address important issues for those in the hardest life circumstances. The opportunity above is a chance to tangibly demonstrate God's care, compassion, and love for those around us. As your church, we hope this makes it easy for you to put into action the Great Commandment to love your neighbor as yourself.
