Ongoing Serving Opportunities
Below is a list of ongoing opportunities in our community. We’d love for you to join us! Scroll through to see which one works in your schedule and skillset.
Nooksack Valley Foodbank Service Project
Powerwashing and some mowing are the name of the game! We are putting together a small team for a midweek project to help the folks out at Nooksack Valley Food Bank. They have served the people of Nooksack faithfully since 1986 and are preparing to celebrate 40 years of service. We need 5 people to make this happen. Two teams of 2 pressure washing and then a mower/weedeater operator. Project date is Monday April 20. Ages 16 and up allowed.
CTK'er Landscaping Response Team Service Project
It is a beautiful time when we come alongside and serve one another as the body of Christ. On Saturday, May 2, CTK Response Teams has the opportunity to bless a CTKer by assisting them in landscape clean-up and some minor exterior repairs. We will spend the day pulling mowing, removing invasive plants, and repairing metal skirting and railings around the house. Ages 14 and up welcome. Looking to assemble a team of 12 to make this happen. Looking for folks with intermediate construction skills for the home repairs and basic landscaping skills for the rest of the work. Background check is required to sign up.
Food Drive Response Team Load In Shift 1
All afternoon Saturday, May 9, cars filled with food will come to be unloaded. Our job is to pull the food out of the car, load into bins, and then transport into our warehouse for sorting. Cars will be packed in all shapes and sizes: boxes piled to the ceiling, dozens of grocery bags sprawled out, and all the loose food. This means lots of standing, repetitive lifting, and smiling faces for all the folks dropping off. We anticipate this will be a busy shift with plenty to do and keep some strong and energized volunteers engaged. To sign up for this shift, you must be at least 18 years old and be able to lift 20 pounds and place cans into knee-high totes repetitively.

Join the Blessing Van Driver Team
The CTK Blessing team utilizes a crew of drivers for various serving opportunities of all shapes and sizes year round. Every Sunday there is a van that picks up a group from our local homeless ministry to bring them to church. From Spring to Fall our veggie van makes deliveries to Food Banks and food scarcity non profits in the county. Year round our Food Share ministry is making non perishable deliveries. And our amazing partners are always cooking up great ideas on other ways to serve. Like transporting shoes for a back to school distribution! There’s always a serving opportunity to drive around the corner.
Interested in driving? Please Email our Outreach Coordinator, Daylee Baker-Hames at dayleeh@ctk.church.
Volunteer with Cascade Connections

Get involved in flood clean up with
Whatcom Long Term Recovery Group
Started as a response to the major floods in 2021, Whatcom Long Term Recovery Group is the local organization focusing on providing coordination and recovery services to all impacted by disaster in Whatcom County. They are coordinating efforts with Samaritans Purse in the immediate aftermath, but they will be focused on recovery efforts for months to come. Volunteers with them will assist in an ever-changing list of things, including but not limited to muckouts, debris cleanup, and resource organization.
Because needs are constantly changing the best way to stay up to date is by following Whatcom Long Term Recovery Group on Facebook or by going to the community updates section of their website. Both links are provided below.
